Many moons ago when I first got internet access we signed up on AOL.
I tried to enter the user name "Yoda" because that's been my nickname for most of my life, but it was already taken.
I don't remember why, but Wolfman Jack was in the paper on the desk so I typed in wolfmanyoda and it was accepted.
I've been using it ever since.

I was a track photographer for a lot of motorcycle races in Florida for 'bout 4 years. When another photographer needs back-up help for a shoot, they'll ask for a second "shooter" rather than a back-up "photographer". Put the 2 together and that's me. So no, I don't shoot bikes with a gun...

Well, mine is my name plus my middle and surname initials.

Other names I use on forums:

Ghost (Hockey nickname, usually taken though)
Devlin or Aodhan - My stage names when I danced with a Irish stepdance group at Renaissance Faires.
Tkd.teacher - Because, well, I taught tae kwon do for a few years.
Opus Dei - When I want to be an obnoxious **** in front of people that might know who I really am.

That's about it, but that is about 1/10th the size of the list of emails that I use.

I'm a throwback from another era. Love midcentury design, art, and lifestyle. And the name is Dave.

The first forum I ever joined was a fishing forum and at the time I was a die hard Bass fisherman and wasnt too bad at it so I came up with BassBlaster. As I get older I enjoy the Bass fishing a lot less and have really taken a likeing to crappie fishing over the past few years. I have just used the same name on every forum that I am a member of because I have a really crappy memory when it comes to things like user names.

Yeah, and "crapblaster" just doesn't have the same panache...

Names sort of dual pupose. Joined forum after looking at kiln plans as I just 'won' some white oak at auction to begin building a bedroom for my wife. Just one of many projects in the works. Plus the old kids song He's still working on me (to make me what I ought to be) came to mind after looking thru all the threads and realizing how much I still have to learn.

My screen name

Adillo303

Adillo is short for my company name - Armadillo Services (Not woodworking).

303 is my business address 303 5th Ave NYC.

I felt mighty proud when I could first say I has an office in NYC, small and humble as it is.

Well it looks like it's been a few years since anyone has posted to this thread, but what the hell, maybe this will revive it. I have been using mine for a number of years primarily as an email moniker. It originated from a highbred bass I love to fish for called a wiper...White bass/Stripped bass. One of the hardest fighting fish you will ever come across. Great fun.

I was born in Mass. and after retiring from the USAF, and having bought land in Alabama, I met a man on a job one day and he found out I was from New England, and called me "Yank", it stuck and that's where it came from. I don't think he even remembers what my first name is.

My father was my inspiration for woodworking, wish he was still around for more advice. Luv ya Dad.

30+ years ago when I was in architectural college, I realized what many designs needed was a 4th dimension (time) sensitivity. One professor hated the concept, insisting there were only 3 dimensions of design, but most respected my 4th dimension thinking and encouraged me to the point where "4D Thinker" stuck as my nickname. This was before email and internet and all that, but the same has stayed with me through this digital age.
