Welcome to Cricket our new Admin.

Guys I got our new admin Cricket involved in threads about the ads before we had a chance to properly welcome her to the forum.

So let me be the first to welcome her to the forum.

Welcome Cricket, glad to have you aboard!

It is nice to know we have someone who will listen to various concerns and may be able to address problems some members have been having.

Sorry to see you had to jump in in the middle of a firestorm. Not your fault that a lot of us are enormously pissed off about the ads.

By the way, I went to your statistics page when Richard first mentioned you and it said at that time that you had 2 posts but when I clicked on "show all posts by ... " it said there were none.

Welcome! For what is worth, I access the forum via IPad and do not see many advertisements. That may be a starting point, I don't know. ( I hope that doesn't lead to a big increase in advertisements for the IPad ;-) )

Welcome aboard. I'm sure that you'll fit right in and if you don't, you've GOT to be better than that Rich Brown fella. That's guys about 143 cubic inches shy of a board foot. If ya know what I mean.

No worries. I am new to this particular community but I am not new to running a forum community, so I am pretty used to firestorms. People tend to be creatures of habit (myself included) so when there are changes it can leave us all a bit unsettled.

I have more than 41,000 posts in another Escalate Media forum and if there is one thing I have learned over the years it is that life is way too short to get hung up on the little stuff. Y'all have my promise that I am going to do everything I can to help find a happy balance for everyone so let's let the techs do their jobs and get back to having some great discussions in this community.

from another thread....

I posted:
Why not have ads for products and services we may actually need or use:

Sharpening Services
Woodcraft, Rockler, PeachtreeUSA, Jessem Lifts, Dewalt, Milwaukee tools, Bench Dog, Kreg, Craftsman, Jet, General Industries, Grizzly, Router bits, EagleAmerica, LeeValley, Veritias, Holbren, Freud, CMT, Forrest, Infinity, McFeely's, Cabinetparts.com, Festool, Felder,
Highland Woodworking, Garrett Wade, Woodworker's Supply
Hardwood suppliers... Groft's Lumber, Hearne's Hardwoods,
Veneer suppliers...
Titebond, Gorilla Glue, Elmers Glue,
Klingspor, 3M, Benchmark Abrasives
General Finishes, Sherman Williams, West Systems,
Wood Magazine, Woodworker's Journal, Popular Woodworking, Fine Woodworking
Woodworking schools,

Somebody needs to get out and do some marketing and we may have the answer.

Also confine the ads to the right side as they used to be, or across the top only, and no more interactive ads where scrolling over by "accident" connects you to the ad's site...

The answer to your question will only be as detailed and specific as the question is detailed and specific. Good questions also include a sketch or a photo that illustrates your issue. (:< D)

Nothing. But someone has to be the "lightning rod of hate" and you got nominated that day.
