Toivola-land of hope

I just watched a document about Toivola, a village in Michigan. Lots of finnish people moved there around year 1900 and I'm just curious if anybody knows that place? Or even been there?
Gerry Henkel was in the program. He is a Kantele-maker. Kantele is traditional finnish instrument. I found his homepages.
Any information about him?
