My grand parents came to this country in 1903 with 10 children and had to work on farms just to eat. My grand children with collage degrees just out of collage making over 75,000 dollars a year. I sure can see where thing are going bad in this country ??????

When it comes to lumber, I'll usually call around, and if a local place has the same price, or a little higher, I'll go there. It's the same with hardware. If I need specialty hardware, I usually either go to ACE or TrueValue because the people there are more knowledgeable.

However, whether we want to admit it or not, we go to where it'll cost less, as long as the quality is the same. I'm not going to pay $1.19 for throw-away paint brushes at Lowes when I can get them at HF for $.29.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!

Shoes? You had shoes? Why, boy, in my day we went barefoot. We walked six miles to school every day in the snow, uphill both ways. And we LIKED IT!

Are you saying that the world always changes for the better?

Are you saying that all change is good?

Are you saying that we should all accept change without questioning the short and long term effects of that change?

That would be a virus, not Lowes. Get your anti-virus updated and do a scan...

You're free to hate Lowe's all you want, but is it fair to post a rant about a PC or browser issue that they're not responsible for?

I didn't mean to get off the subject till I got attacked. The trend starts Lowes $ucks. I like there big selection of top quality tools which I will just go in the store and look at them some times. I see nothing wrong with Lowes. They are a little higher priced on some things and a little lower on some. Also I have a account with them and they can tell everything I have ever bought from them without a receipt. So when I bring some back no problems when I lose a receipt. It makes it nice when you buy paint from them they know how to mix the colors if you need more paint. I go on their web site a lot to get prices and can't say I ever had a problem.

Now with the cost of fuel at almost 4 dollars a gallon the 2.00 throw away brush from the local hardware is cheaper then the .29 brush from HF.

Thanks to all who alerted me to the real problem with my computer. I apologize to the loyal Lowe's customers whose feelings I apparently hurt.

You aren't the one that got to me its the ones that put down our county. Two things that most forums don't allow is religion and politics and I can understand why.

willy, I don't think you hurt anyone's feelings here. I think most of us just don't make a habit of maligning people without good cause and it was clear the issue wasn't the fault of Lowes. No big deal.

reynoldston, yep, politics threads get touchy. This is the off-topic section though and the mods allow us a lot of leeway when it comes to politics, as long as the threads stay mostly civil. I personally like that, as I get to have a lot of very good discussions and learn some things along the way. I would say, though, if you're easily annoyed stay out of those threads.

I don't have a problem with Lowes or any of the big box stores for that matter. Out of the 3( Menards& Home Depot) lumber/hardware stores in my area I actually like them the best. Their stores are clean, well stocked, and their employees are helpful and for the most part pretty knowledgeable. The desire to go back to the days of mom and pop hardware stores seems foolish to me. I guess it's nostalgic to remember those types of stores with wooden floors and all but that's the past. Fun to remember but not realistic. I believe change is constant, especially in business so you might as well embrace it as much as possible. Change or die.

I have very strong views regarding politics and religion but feel that this forum isn't the place to voice them. I really enjoy this site and how open, knowledgeable, and sharing everyone is.....In my opinion conversations regarding left wing or right wing should be about extensions on a table saw and not democrats or republicans....

Spark,

These political discussions appear in the Off Topic section.

Perusing and participation are voluntary.
