Unhappy I guess summer is over, had to work in the snow today

I was totally unprepared today when I went up in the mountains in sunny Southern California. I was wearing only a hoodie and slip-on shoes. Not only did my feet get soaked but I got hit in the head with a large icicle leaving a pretty good bump. Luckily I had my hard hat with me, because a whole lot more icicles fell on me before I was done.

The cold wet feet thing was too much though. I usually always keep steel toed boots in the truck and only wear them when I need them like when rattlesnakes are out, working with heavy materials and snow. I pulled them out yesterday to make room for other stuff and forgot to put them back in this morning

Anyway each winter it seems to get harder and harder to work in the cold. I used to hate the heat and loved the cold, but now it's the other way around.

Me too. I used to be the one always in a tee shirt in cold weather. Now I wear a sweater or coat when everyone else is comfortable .

I finished picking grapes on Wednesday, damp, windy, overcast and no more than 40F.
Hard to get "warmed up" doing that. I dressed like it was knee-deep snow.
Happy to be done and happy to be just nicely warm, too. Almost fun but not quite.
I've been retired for some years. I'm far better dressed for any weather
than ever before.

I watch all those Mountain Men TV shows on the History Chanel and all I can think of is that I would probably perish trying to survive in that snow country.

Finally managed to get a photo off of the cell phone. Not a lot of snow, but miserable anyway when not prepared for it.

We had a chilling day today. Temps plunged to the low 80's.

LOL, You make me laugh. I'm still recovering from watching Steven Wright videos after your last comment about the paint and now this.
