Ok, now I have annoying ads on my phone.

I can see the necessity of having ads but the flashing ads are really annoying.

So far master card and Jeep are on my do not buy do not use list.

Next!

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my grandfather did in his
sleep. Not yelling and screaming like the passengers in his car.

+1. I am getting the same type of thing on my phone. HD and Mott's. I haven't tried to download anything on the phone yet. I've been trying to keep from downloading anything on my phone...no apps either.

There are already several threads on this topic. Many of us have blasted the forum owners for being jerks to allow such HUGE ads and so far all we've gotten in return are words. If they are going to fix it, I can't see why it is taking so long, so I don't think they are going to fix it. I'd love to be wrong, but I don't think they give a damn about the users, they just own the forum to make money.

Paul, you are not one to mince words- well said- forum is revenue. Too bad but I think you are right- ads are here to stay.

I think you are right. The ads have been like that for months over on the chatroom and there have been dozens of complaints and many people have quit. And nothing has been done. We either put up with being annoyed or quit. Quitting seems to be the more sensible option.

Can't you become a supporting member and buy your way out of them?

I have done that on the gun forum I frequent. They kill the ads and let you have access to write in the political forums, which keeps most of the trolls out.

Nothing wrong with making money by inserting ads.

What pisses me off is the animation. It demonstrates a complete lack of respect for forum members by both the advertisers and the forum owners.

Don't know about the rest of you but pissing me off and annoying me is the best way to assure that I won't be buying an advertisers product or service.

I use Chrome and Adblock Plus so no adds for me. I understand that they want to make money and adds are the way to do it but I don't really want to see them.

I view on my iPhone, and I'm unaware of any blocking software.

The animated adds are the worst. Particularly the ones that are for insane completely off topic, or interest. Este Lauder is one if those. The subway add is at least interesting to me.

I only seem to get the HD ads. My solution unfortunately will spending less time here and more time elsewhere. Some body should try to explain to those in power the story about the golden goose. Probably would not matter since we are probably communicating with a machine..........

You do know, don't you, that there is no incentive for the site owners to change as long as folks keep logging on regardless!

I've decided to express my aggravation by not logging on again until next Wednesday (1/29/2014)

Now there's an idea. Better yet how 'bout an organized boycott?

Maybe it's time to vote with our feet?

If nothing else it might provide a well deserved break for our Mods.

I for one am not about to bite the hand that provides me free woodworkingtalk forums. It's entertaining to me that when no one here pays a penny to be here, that you want to boycott a free service?? The bills have to be paid!!!!!

The tools don't make the craftsman....

Well you know we have 3-4 different threads bitching about the same thing. I have been working to get stuff fixed. Thing is its not going to happen over night and there will always be something to bitch about.

Anyone on here should know I will fight to get things fixed as much as possible. I have had several PM's with Juan about this and I assure you they gave been direct. They are supposed to be making a new plan that may work. I'm not sure of all the details but the date I was told for these ads to change is Feb 2nd.

Lets show a little patients before boycotts and such.
