Wine bottle balance stand

Google will turn up a few how-to's on these, but there's nothing complicated here; just applied CoG (Center of Gravity). I used a wine bottle filled with water to test each stand. I drilled a 1 3/8" hole straight in, gave it a little chamfer about 6 1/2" up from the bottom. Next, I cut a 45 deg 'foot' and test the balance. You can calculate the point of incidence and cut the angle exactly, or make small adjustments by eye. I find that somewhere between 43 - 45 deg works.

Then you can shape it for eye appeal.....or not!

I've always liked them. Friends I give them to are fascinated by them. It takes so little sometimes.

Id really like to do it so that the bottle mounts on an absolute 90-270 horizontal... Can you explain the math?

Cool! Love the variety of the curvy designs and shapes and the wood colors as well. They are great gift ideas. Great job!
