Step Stool

Here is a hickory step stool that I put together for my son. He is in the midst of potty training and needed something to be able to get on the toilet so I was forced to make another project, albeit a small one. I love it when the wife thinks of this less as a hobby and in a more utilitarian light. Then she gives me more leeway to hide in the garage and play with tools. Anyway, the sides are fit into grooves on the bottom of the step and the strecher has tenons attached into mortises in the side. Thanks for looking!

AC,
Good job on the stool. Hope your son likes it. Pretty nice looking hickory.

Hickory Step Stool

I am making a couple of hickory chairs and have been debating about the finish.

Did you use a stain?

What finish did you use?

Thanks,

Domer

I know I shouldn't have, but I was in a hurry to get it operational so I used Watco brushing lacquer. The last coat was Watco spray lacquer. I just didn't have time to do several coats of something tougher. Anyways, yeah, it's gloss lacquer. Thanks for the comments everyone!

Nice looking stool ......would that be a pun considering it was made for potty training?
Great job, I'm sure you son (and wife) love it.
Ken

There is a very fine line between a "hobby" and a "mental illness"
