My mop handles

I have long been fed up with these broom stem breakages , so I decided to make two unbreakable mop sticks by myself.
My colleagues could not understand why I do it, they said, “Go into a shop and buy one”.
But I am woodworker and I’d like to make things by myself.

If You interested how the “impossible” dovetail at the top are made , then more pictures from making process can be seen on my blog: WoodWorker blog

Very nice, there may possibly be a market for those... a lot better than store purchased ones.

I also think that they fit very well on wooden yachts, for example.

Very nice job!! That is one nice looking mop handle. Makes me want to swab the deck.... Now that you have the mop, you need to build the yacht. How did you cut the tapered threads?

I like it. Nice job on the "skewed" dovetails. Never seen that before very nice. :thumbup1:

Are you really going to use that beautiful mop handle? Too pretry to mess up.

On the other hand have you really had a mop or broom handle break?

GeorgeC , You are not the first who asks it.
Yes, I've ruined several of them and I know its my fault, because I bought the cheapest ones.

Are those new ones to be used or not is not my decision , my wife will decided.

Your handles look great! Why not combine form and function? It's nice to have something that lasts. I just broke two rakes in the last two days just working some dirt!

Beautiful.

I saw Roy Underhill do a show on those impossible dove tails and other tricks. Very impressive.
