Mahogany Bar-shop pics

I posted this bar a while back. I just dug up some photos that survived hurricane Andrew, so I thought they may be of some interest. The overall height stands about 10ft high, including the header which is about 20ft long x 12" high. The main overhead header is about 5ft in diameter, and the double bullnose mouldings are 1" each for a 2" pair. There is a corresponding header on the opposing wall with a 30" clear hole through both headers for a potted tree to extend through. The decorative filler on the bar and header is hammered copper and brass (by others). The trick to this bar was the curved bullnoses and half rounds made on a curve. The edging on the bartop is a double 1Ĺ" bullnose. The finish is a NGR red mahogany methanol based aniline dye with clear lacquer finish. Three lengths of 12/4 Mahogany 20" wide and 18' long were ordered for this project.

This picture shows the "dry fit" assembly. The front is constructed with "bending ply fastened to forms. The curved moulding on the bar front is also curved horizontally. It will be removed so that the bar front can be laminated with Mahogany veneer. The cabinets are Mahogany plywood with solid wood fronts and crown. All the trim pieces are solid wood.

The next picture is the crown. It is a stacked assembly of solid Mahogany.

This is the crown after being dyed, ready for further finish.

This is a view of the bar front with the copper and brass applied.

These are some of the soffit sections after they were dyed. The large center sections are 12" high and are a 5' diameter.

These are the smaller sections of the bar cabinets and soffit, after being dyed awaiting further finish.
.

.
This is one of the smaller soffit pieces, its construction is bending ply over curved forms, made up with a stud type of vertical structure, and then the faces veneered.

CB,
fantastic work. Is that first picture in the foyer of someone's house, or is that a lobby? Very nice piece.

Thanks for the compliments. This is a fairly large residence.
