Iíve been working on this for the past few weeks. First time working with hickory.

Base is pine and will be painted slate grey.

Top was finished with GF Armor Seal.

Once it cures it should be fine. However, I didnít make this for a tabletop to cut directly on, etc. I still use cutting boards for that.

Honestly, Armor Seal is stupid hard once it cures, so I would be concerned it would dull my knives if I were to cut on it.

Very nice work, looks real solid. Post up another pic after you paint the base; sounds like a nice look.

Nice work! Add me to the list of people who would like to see a photo of the completed and painted island, too.

Looks great. Goes well with the overall look of your kitchen; floor, cabinets, etc.

That hickory looks great, nice job. I've got a 16/4 slab waiting to be turned into dining table legs, I hope I get that kind of contrast in colors.

Very cool! Like that.
