Hanging decoration shelf.
I don't think I've shown this one here before. This is a decoration shelf that I made for my wife. She saw the design somewhere and wanted it in oak to match the house. She basically took the picture and designed it. It's 3/4" red oak with cherry stain and a laquer finish. The contruction is simple, butt joints with pocket screws on the top. The reason for this is the shelf is high above my stairs and the tops are not visible except to people 8' tall. I don't care what those people think though, dirty 8 footers....
I digress, pocket holes with oak plugs hand planed flush. The shelf is hung by routing a recess and using metal keyhole hardware. Careful measurements to match them on the wall and voila! a hanging shelf.
