Gift for the Brother..

Now with Christmas around the corner, I'm always thinking of gifts I could make for my family.. My brother owns a web design business which he calls "Tydeesigns" Ty, stands for his name, Tyler. Then, 'Tydee' stands for his clean, attractive websites which he designs, and designs.. you got the idea. I thought it would be fun to make his logo for his office. So I pulled the projector out, with his logo projecting onto the wall where I tapped up two pieces of large card stock paper, I traced the logo.

Next I got to planing down the boards to about 5/8ths inch thick.. in pine. I then began to carefully cut out the letters on the scroll saw. Just today I sanded the letters and finished painting the back board. (which I still need to trim to size once I know the exact space needed for the letters..) Tonight I painted the letters with acrylic paint and then gave a coat or two of a 'gloss' lacquer. Tomorrow I have just a little more work to do before it's time for wrapping!

I hope you all enjoy! and maybe you could do the same similar project for friends or family!

Take care,
Levi

Nice work Levi. Looks very professional. Nice curves are difficult to cut on a scroll saw but looks like you've got it mastered. Fantastic job, your brother will love it.

There is a very fine line between a "hobby" and a "mental illness"

Good job Levi. I'm sure your brother will love it.

If Woodworking is so much fun why isn't it called WoodFUNNING?

I've made a few videos

Thank you all for your kind words! It was a fun but very easy project that turned out, in my mind, quite well. :) Here's a photo of the piece all finished up with the letters elevated!

Thanks again!
