Closed end pen

Closed end Rollerball pen, done in Bocote.

I'm really trying to get away from the norm. There are 100's (1000's maybe) of pen turners out there. Alot that I see just stay within the boundary of basic wood, maybe exotic, and "pen on a mandrel and friction wax finish". I don't think I've done 10 pens in a row in the same fashion. Always evolving and improving.

This one was nice enough to sell so I put it up on my Esty site and Facebook page.

Let me know what you think!

Derek

Nice pen. I like the gentle bulges, which really seem to agree with the grain.

Dv,
I like that style of pen and I like the bocote. In the second pic, is the lower end of the pen as big as it looks, or is it distorted a little due to the camera angle?

Mike,

The bottom is tear dropped shaped and is the largest diameter on the pen, but only slightly. I think the picture makes to look a little larger then it actually is.

Derek that is a nice looking pen. I like that you are pushing your limits on your turning. Good job and keep it up.

Great looking Pen

Derek you did a fantastic job on this one! I've been experimenting on some closed end pens and came up with this one in a Jobillo(Ho be Yo) wood that I purchased about a year ago and appears I got a little off center on the lower barrel, but it was fun creating it.

as always, Constructive Criticism welcome.
