As much as I like the end vises and how they work, it's the dang handles that I fear I will walk into at crotch height and scream scaring the dog and all the neighbors within earshot. :vs_OMG:
There is no good solution I've seen, so that's the price we have to pay. Ouch.:crying2:

I also recently finished a pipe clamp vise based on a design by Jay Bates(?). I needed one quickly for a project, and his design worked fine -- I expect to continue to get plenty of use from it.
Thought about doing a pipe clamp vise before seeing Jay Bates, but then found him and another when looking to see if someone else had done it and how well it worked. It works good.
