Acoustic Bass

Well I decided to make an acoustic upright! I had a previous post which was about my electric one, but I guess I don't want to spend the money for an amp and pickup. Yes it is shoddy but I don't really care because that's the look I'm going for. It's just four pieces of wood screwed together with a neck on it! ha.

It has the classic "thud sound" Just a little quiet because it isn't as large of a body as the 4/4 scale ones!

Not sure what you mean by thud sound. Are you comparing the sound to an electric bass, or an upright double bass, or . . . Does the sound reverberate? Resonate?

I'm comparing the sound to a traditional upright double bass. That's how I describe the sound as a thud because the low e string is very low sounding! But I've never played an upright double bass to be sure. I mean I've heard them bowed but I haven't heard them plucked. I've heard quality soundfonts that are plucked and it sounds similar. I'm to lazy to go on youtube and hear it. I don't really care for youtube anyways. Mine is only for plucking or to use your fingers on the strings. My bridge I made is not arched and the fingerboard is flat too so you can't bow it. My upright bass does reverberate. Lol in bluegrass they used to use bathtubs as I was told. I'm putting cast iron wheels on mine because it is actually kind of heavy.

My son plays the string/upright/contra/double bass. It has a sustained tone when it's plucked, but not as much as when it's bowed.
