125 year old salvaged barn wood

They tore down my grandmas old barn last year and I salvaged most of the exterior boards. I wanted the exterior for the color paint so that with all the little things I built out of it I would know it was from her barn.

Anyways... I just finished up a little stool/bench. Nothing special, but it kept me busy for about 3 innings during the braves game! What's neat is that everything but the nails are 125+ yrs old!

Also I'll attach a photo of the frame with a pic of the barn I built last year for my dads birthday and a mirror i made for my sister. Sorry the barn pic is upside down... Thanks for looking!

Very cool. I'll bet some of the interior boards, like beems and such were pretty nice too. Did you get any of those?

Umm about a truck load. Hahaha. They are super nice. All true 2x4 and 6x6 red oak. Unbelievable stuff. I'll attach a photo. Built a few end tables put of them. And I am seriously contemplating making a farmhouse bed for someone out of it.

Beautiful wood, there is just no limit to what you can do with the old wood. Just one caution, the paint being that old may have some lead in it, you may want to seal it but above all don't let little ones flake it off even if sealed.
