You could get a Powermatic 1150 for that price. Definitely keep looking for the DP, and don't rule out eBay. There are occasional deals. Also look at govt. auction sites.

Picked up a new ridgid at home depot, They did not accept the harbor freight coupon. But for this saw, 499 isn't a bad price.

That was a pain to put together by myself! Took about 4 hours. I still need to give it a good cleaning and double check the adjustments. Fence was 90 degree to the table when installed, and the blade is square with the miter gauge.

The guy in Apex came down on the price some for the Ridgid 15" press, seemed like a very nice guy on the phone. Pics to come tomorrow when I pick it up. In the pictures it looks almost new.

nice drill press. this month's shopnotes magazine has a feature on a mobile base and cabinet designed for the wasted space under a floor standing DP's table. might be worth checking out.

there's a solution to every problem.....you just have to be willing to find it.

I would definitely be intersted in a mobile base, as long as it is stable while the bit is turning.

I have the older version of that DP. It was a great upgrade from my benchtop Delta drill press.

Used it today with a 2" forstner bit. Easily hogged out material from hard maple. Impressed so far.
