Powermatic 15 inch planer

Have an old 15 inch pm planer that I haven't used as of yet. I then later bought a grizzly barely used 20 inch planer the heavy model. Found out when I got it home that it won't fit down the step to my basement shop. So I'm back to restoring a pm 15 inch and selling the grizzly. Short story made long now. Does anybody have any experience restoring a pm 15 inch planer? Is it worth it ? Is there a helical cutter head available for it? Any input would be appreciated

Byrd lists the cutter heads they have available on their website...

Google "helical cutter heads" for others.

I've been running a PM15HH hard for a couple of years now. Solid beast. I know the replacement head is available from Powermatic, but might be cheaper from Byrd. Byrd is OEM for Powermatic.

The tools don't make the craftsman......a true statement often overused by individuals who haven't a clue about quality tools or true craftsmanship.
