Planer suggestions between Steel City 40200H vs. 40300HC

My Delta lunch box planner has been giving me issues. (It’s my first planer. A nut fell of the pulley while it was running and it chewed up the pulley and almost tore up the drive belt. Plus the rollers are getting warn. It was used when I got it.)

I’ve been watching my local CL and haven’t seen anything good come across for a few months. So I might branch out and go for something new. I like the idea of the Spiral Cutterhead. Without going into some bigger units the only smaller planners I’m finding with the Spiral Cutterhead is the Steel City.

It looks like they have (2) models with the Spiral Cutterhead: 40200H and a newer 40300HC
I’ve watched the demo/review videos from Highland Woodworking on both models.

40200H: heaver unit, a few extra depth features, and the fact you can rotate the cutter blades 4 times vs. only 2 on the 40300HC. It also has a 5 year warranty. (I’m not sure how good the Steel City customer service is. But if they’re willing to warranty it for 5 years they must have some faith in the unit.)

40300HC: A little cheaper, lighter weight of a unit. Only a 2 year warranty

The 40300HC is brand new, so I haven’t found any reviews out for it. The 40200H has been around for several years now, there are a few bad reviews on it. I think once you get it cleaned up from the factory it’s a good unit.
