old Tauco planer spindle speed?

Hi there, I am busy restoring an old Tauco planer thicknesser. The width of the spindle is approx 152mm (6 inch) diam.of spindle is 55mm approx 2 and1/4 inch. Does anyone know the correct spindle speed? there was no pulley or motor with the unit. Does 5000rpm sound about correct?.i only plan to use it for pine and soft woods. The pulley on the spindle is quite small.about 2 inches.

4500 rpm is the ideal speed for a cutterhead. I think if you get between 4000-5000 you will be alright.

From what I've been reading about Tauco, parts are interchangeable with older Rockwell Delta machines. You might post a picture of the planer over at OWWM. There is only 26 known machines from Tauco over there and none of them are planers.
