Which nail gun?

Considering getting a nail gun for framing out a room. I was looking in the store while i was there the other day and apparently theres a lot more types then i thought. And the only one they had listed for 'framing' was there big $500+ model. So figured id ask here first. Im guessing some woodworkers would have a much better idea then i do.

Aside from this project, i probably wont be using it to much. I just dont see my self nailing everything by hand in my physical condition.

So any thoughts on nail guns for basic 2x4 framing?

edit: just looked at renting prices for a framer gun and a air compressor form HD... around $300 for 1 single week. -_-
sears website listed some cheaper ones through there market place. But im not entirely sure if they are the ones i would need.

would the drill or impact setting on the hammer drill work for driving in framing screws better then a impact driver?

there is no impact setting on the hammer drill or any drill

Miss spoke my word there. To much goign on in my head. I meant drive, not impact. (would the drill or DRIVE setting on the hammer drill work for driving in framing screws better then a impact driver?)

the ridgid team said in one of there answers "Hi TJ, This hammer drill has 3 settings drill, drive and hammer."

And would either of those settings [drive or dill on a hammer drill] work BETTER then a impact driver for those framing screws. (Im guessing not, but figured id ask.)

i said this
no impact setting; that setting is a slip clutch with a variety of setting for screws, it doesn't work as well as they'd have you think
the impact driver will easily drive in 4" screws or 3/8x7" lag bolts
yes you can drive screws with any cordless drill, with an increased chance of snapping the heads off

(Im guessing not, but figured id ask.)
you did answer yourself, impact drivers run circles around drill at driving screws
cordless impact is relatively new product, before that we all used cordless drills to drive screws

you seem hesitant to buy this set,
i assumed that by being on this forum you are the handyman diy type of guy
cordless hammer drill should be your first power tool purchase, right after hammer and screwdriver
yes, you can drive screws with a drill, impact does a nicer job and typically won't bust the heads off screws

while thats true, its probably not the reason you are thinking of. My main hesitation is cost. I have a specific amount of money for this project. Which is not enough to do everything as perfectly as it should be. Thus certain cut backs have become necessary. Because if i dont get this project done, im on the door step of losing my home. (long story.)

So seeing this new promotion set today offered a new possibility. It does look like a nice offer. But its more expensive up front. I also have a habit of trying to work out every little detail i can. So anytime i think of something, relevant or not, im bothered by it until i can get or find an answer.

As for being a handyman, i wouldnt go that far. This is my second place, but first place im putting real work into. Other before that were renting, or in someone else's house. They tend to frown on coming home to find a wall missing or something lol.
Iv also never really had money to make things or get many tools. So everything i have i got when my dad died, or i bought used off of random ppl if it was a good price. - So im used to using what ever i happen to have, to get something done however i can. But with a project like this, im trying to learn as much as i can, to do as much as i can correctly the first time. (within my limits.)

As such, impact drivers, driver/drills, and hammer drills, are three tools iv never had or used before. (Only a regular drill. Corded and battery.) So im trying to take in everything i can.

The other main reason i havnt committed to this ridgid set is because i havnt baught any of the main materials yet. Spent the last year getting the basement back to square one. (It was in bad shape form the last owners.) So i figured that if i have to spend all this time working on that.. i mine as well use the time to also learn as much as i can here. Both on how to do things, and what to use... and why.

When i am satisfied i have everything ready, then i will start getting all the supplies. (which might start in a week or two.) Until then i just keep asking questions i think of.

as for the 'free tool' promotion. These would be the options. (sorry for the long links. Havnt figured out for to link them to words like i can on other sites.)

reciprocating saw with blade (cordless, brushless)
An interesting choice. Im not sure what is do with it off the bat, but it has my interest.

1/2" impact wrench with belt clip (cordless, brushless)
Not sure what is used this for personally.

1/4" compact router with fixed base and tool free depth adjustment
(cordless, brushless)
Again, not sure what id use it for personally.

JobMax console with tool free multi tool head (tool only)(cordless)
Looks like it would require buying different head pieces. And that just isnt in the cards for a very very long time.

Two 4AH batteries
Always nice. But id be getting two batteries with the set. Two tools and four batteries might be overkill.

wireless radio with bluetooth.
Have no use for. Hate listing to the radio. And dont no how to work bluetooth. (never had the money to get anything with it. So never had the opportunity or reason to learn much about it)

4.5" angle grinder with handle and general purpose wheel. (cordless, brushless)
7.25" circular saw (cordless, brushless)
jig saw (cordless, brushless)

These three i already have. Not ridgid. But i have.
A Harbor freight grinder. Only ever used once.
A Skill circular saw iir. Tho iv noticed the blade getting lose on it shortly after tightening it recently. But my ability with a circular sucks. I only use it if nothing else will work.
And a black & Decker jig saw iir. I only use it to cut door ways when i make my animals new poplar huts.

So im guessing maybe the reciprocating saw :/

just figured id add this here. Today was the first time i tested out the hammer drill. Apparently the impact drill doesnt hold a 9/64(iir) drill bit. So i tried the hammer driver drill; set on the drill bit setting. But i must say, having only used regular old school cordless drills and even older corded drills.. This was quite a different feel to it. Its quite amazing how different it felt drilling those pilot wholes (pet items) compared to the drills i was used to. - It did a good, quick job tho.
