Lathe Bench

1 Attachment(s)
Just finished making a bench for the lathe I bought a few days ago from Gus, a member here (thanks again for the great deal). I built it from the Pop.Mech. book called Lathe Fundamentals the complete guide with the inevitable modifications. It still needs a few things like sand tubes for additional weight and trim to prevent chips and dings on the edges. Unfortunately I can not seem to post pics here so I will put them in my album.

Um............looks great?

Hopefully you'll get the pictures up soon.

(@Ken - click on Jordan's "My Photos" link under his name to see the bench)

Jordan -- that looks very stylish - simple clean lines

If your tools have a tendency to roll from one end of the shelf to the other, you might think about adding (for example) triangular bars front to back.

eventually I will be adding a tool rack for them and chucks and such. Probably mounted on the back above the bed but I am a bit concerned that it would require reaching over the lathe. I finally figured the pic thing out.

I think you're right to be concerned. Don't do it.

Hey, I can see it now!!! Very nice work. This table will definitely serve you well. Looks awesome.

Thanks, yea I thinks so, it is pretty heavy (dbl mdf top) and solid so I don't think vibration will be a problem. I should improve my ability to generate top quality sawdust with that baby.
