Has anyone used them? Are they any good?

I agree that its a very subjective question based on what tool youre looking at, but for the most part Grizzly tools are solid. Not the highest quality things in the world, as a matter of fact their handheld power tools are a scant step up from HF, but their stationary tools (table saws, bandsaws, jointers and the like) cant be beat for the price. Now, fit and finish wont be quite as nice as a powermatic, its very likely youll see a burr here or a sharp edge there, maybe a small chip in the paint. That said though, usability wont be affected and your wallet will thank you, something like a 14" bandsaw would be $1200 from powermatic and ~$800 from someone like Jet. Grizzly has theirs listed at $575 and its an extremely solid tool

My bench top planer, table saw, and lathe are all Grizzly tools. They are all good tools. There customer service is so-so. They are good with warranty claims. Now full disclosure I went with grizzly mainly because they are local to me so I saved a lot in shipping on top of the lower prices.

I’ve bought two shapers, a jointer and a track saw. The track saw had a screw fall out while using it, keeping the blade from retracting. Screw hole is stripped, but I can still use it without the screw. Jointer fence not ground flat so it isn’t square to the table the full length. One of the shapers motors wasn’t tightened down properly, making the shaper unusable until I figured out the problem. The shaper works as expected now.

I think their quality control is questionable. Other people do fine by Grizzly, but I’m through ordering from them.

In woodworking there is always more then one way to accomplish something.

I have quite a few of their machines, and have no problems with them the smaller tools are kind of scraping the bottom, but for as cheap as they are something has to give

For the money they are as good or better then other machines from that part of the world

I have a Grizzly drill press I purchased used. It didn’t have the speed chart normally found under the pulley cover. Contacted Grizzly and they sent me one no questions asked. Recently purchased a lathe from them that works well and also purchased a 4 jaw chuck for the lathe. About a week ago I wanted to use the flat jaws and rubber grip studs. One of the flat jaws had a grip stud hole that wasn’t tapped preventing the grip stud from being screwed into the jaw. A couple of emails to Grizzly and 4 new flat jaws with all the holes tapped are on their way to me.

The equipment is decent and from my experience their support is excellent.

I have a 15” planer & 6” jointer, both with helical heads, & an oscillating drum sander. All operate as intended. The “fit & finish” on all is fine. No drips, runs, or uneven joints.

I also have an air stapler. Hasn’t missed a beat yet.

My BIL’s shop burned a few years ago. He replaced everything with Grizzly. They’re only about 30 miles from him, so no shipping. He’s pleased with them.
