Fladder Sander for thin stock?

Hello,

I'm researching a machine that could sand fiberglass sheets, 42" wide by 0.020" thick. This material is used for bonding to acrylic and needs to just have a light sanding to take the shine off it. I'm finding that drum or belt sanders can't go that thin. But I saw a few ads for Fladder Sanders, which I had never heard of before. This machine looks like maybe it could be adjusted for a much lighter cut.

Does anyone have experience with this type of machine? Would it work for my application??
Thanks

you may consider trying a sled to carry the sheet through. i've gone less then 1/8 consistently. but 0.020"? sander may want to pick it up,

A fiberglass sheet slightly over 1/64"??? Man that is thin.

In answer to your question... I think that hand sanding with the paper in a sanding block would be your safest (For operator and material) alternative. Even then, the sanding process is going to be a very delicate task. I would be afraid to use any machine on something that thin.

Use the right tool for the job.
