Finally bought a planer

I noticed that local Lowes has the Dewalt 734 marked down to $370 and decided to test the local Home Depot's 10% guarantee. I didn't have an ad, just my word about the Lowes price, but the HD guy agreed to match the price and discount another 10% -- i.e., sell me a 734 for $333 -- so I brought it home. Now I just need to find a good spot for it in the shop and put it to work(!)

Way to go! I tried that same on the Bosch router to see if Lowes would match Amazon's price, and they wouldn't budge, even if they did I would have had to pay Calif sales tax. Buying from Amazon, I got the best price, no shipping cost, and even better no sales tax.

They won't match online prices, only other brick and morter stores prices.

Thanks for your help

One reason I go to Lowe's over Home Depot is that Lowe's gives a 10% discount to veterans every day of the year. Just show proof you're a vet and they knock off 10%. HD only does that on Veteran's Day.

Aren't new tools fun? Did you spend the day turning fat pieces of wood into thin pieces of wood?

Insert witty signature line here.

That's good to know. I guess I will have to get my VZ Med card, I now have to use VA for medical, but they just use my driver license, yet I can get a VA card so might as well.

I wish! Haven't even opened the box yet, had family visiting from Seattle and Orlando, and I've got to work today. Hopefully, tonight I'll take a look at it.
