Dewalt planer 13"

I've been using Dewalt 735 for about 9 years. I wore one out and purchased another about 6 months ago. I changed the blades today and when I turned the unit on the sound had changed and the planer was shaking like it had a fever.

I've not changed the attachment to the table. I took the hood off and checked that the blades were seated properly and tightned correctly (they were). I was careful to replace the dust extractor properly (it is).

If it was just the sound I could live with it, but the machine is shaking a great deal. Its like something is out of alignment, but I can't imagine what it could be. There is nothing hanging down from the roller (I looked). The movement of the height gauage feels the same.

Is there anything I could easily check?

Take the blades out and run the machine. If it doesn't shake something happened when you replaced the blades. That's the first step provided it wasn't shaking before you replaced the blades.

Check the blades while they're out. If you have a scale, weigh them to be sure they're equal.

Also check inside to be sure nothing was dropped while you were replacing the blades.

That is how I would proceed.

Nails, head, hit. You got it SG. Turns out that when I changed the blades I actually put one sharp blade on top of one of the dull blades. Embarrasing, but at least I had the common good sense to not try to use it before it sounded right.

Thank you

Glad to help. Nothing to be embarrased about as I bet you'll be more cautious anytime you replace anything. Considered it an experience that you paid a cheap price to learn. I've paid dearly for some of my lessons.

Good fortune to you.
