Delta X5 Bandsaw?

Does anyone have any insight to the Delta X5 Bandsaw; model 28-475x?

In researching it it seems it was produced a number of years ago, but I'm not sure when Delta stopped making it. Are replacement parts readily available? How's the power? Any issues to look for?

And lastly, given what's available both new and used, what would a fair price be for one?

Delta has practically suspended making parts for everything they sell. If parts are an issue I would thoroughly research it before buying. If it has the original motor it's suppose to come with a 1 1/2 hp motor. My saw has a 3/4 hp motor and I've never bogged it down.

The 28-475x is essentially a standard late model USA-made 14" band saw with a blade de-tensioning device. Delta's parts illustration BS-2G-1D, 01-13-04 would cover it. The de-tensioning device looks like it could give trouble. Chances are it comes with poly tires, so figuring on replacing them.

How well it runs depends on what the owner chose to buy as to stand, switch, and motor. If it was someone looking for cheap, then don't expect much.

Used parts for that saw should be readily available because it was a popular model. Many of the parts will interchange with those Delta saws that came out in 1939.
