Delta Table saw problem

Hi all, just joined this forum.
Found an old Delta table saw in the trash some guy had by the side of the road and took it home. The motor runs fine but the blade does not spin. I took it apart somewhat and there appears to be some sort of a gearbox mounted on the motor before the arbor for the blade. I think this part has failed. Anyone have any experience with this?

Not typical of table saws...

Gear boxes are common on bandsaws which have 2 speed ranges, one for wood, the other for metal. It is possible that yours has a direct drive motor and uses a short cogged or toothed belt to reduce the speed to the arbor. That would account for the motor spinning and not the arbor if the belt has broken or a gear is sheared off.

Search your model number on www.ereplacement parts and see what a parts diagram shows. Post a photo of the assembly for us to see also. Slipping V belts are easy to fex. a broken hear box or internals, not so much. The trash "find" may be an indication of a failure to find parts or excessive cost to repair.... I donno? You don't have any money invested thus far so, it's worth looking into.

The answer to your question will only be as detailed and specific as the question is detailed and specific. Good questions also include a sketch or a photo that illustrates your issue. (:< D)
