Delta Band Saw model 28-185

I'm a new member of this forum. I have the above band saw I bought several years ago at a garage sale. Recently the blade broke and I am trying to replace it. I purchased the right size blade, however when I go to install it I cannot get any degree of tension on the new blade no matter how much I play with the tension adjuster, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any advice you can give me.

What blade did you buy? Carbide or Bi metal?

You may need to adjust the quick release tension mechanism . Refer to your manual.

The package doesn't say, it is an Olsen blade, the label says "wood band".

^^^Here's the manual. ^^
According to the manual you lift the tension lever and twist it til the spring compresses. Then twist the lever an additional twist with an 1/8 inch blade,an additional 2 turns with a 1/4 inch blade and 3 turns with a 3/8 blade.
Look at page 10.
Does that help?
