Craftsman Table saw Attachment

Hi all!!
This is my first post, and looking forward to discusssions and the sharing of ideas.

Guess I'm going to start out with a dumb question, and get it out of the way.

I bought a Craftsman table saw a while back ata garage sale, model
137.248840. It's been a great table saw for my needs, but when I bought it there was an attachment included that I'm not sure where it goes. It looks like a stop block with a ruler and slider mechanism.
I'll try to attach a pic of it.

Can any onee tell me where it goes? I thought it might attach to the miter gauge somehow. There's nothing mentioned in the manual for it.

BTW, I got the table, and a box of new and used blades for 80.00. Thought it was a good deal.

My guess is ....

See if the miter gauge has threaded holes on top. If the red knob screw into those holes, it's an adjustable fence with a stop for crosscutting duplicate lengths.

other wise... who knows?

The answer to your question will only be as detailed and specific as the question is detailed and specific. Good questions also include a sketch or a photo that illustrates your issue. (:< D)

I believe woodnthings is correct. This picture would be a newer version then yours, but should give a better understanding how it works

Ok guys...just is just to weird! This attachment has been laying around the shop for over a year, since I bought the saw. I posed the question on this forum, asking what it might be, and how it attaches.....right?

I'm on craigslist last night, cruising the tools for sale, when I run across this ad for a craftsman drill press. Notice something in the picture.....
mystery solved.
