Craftsman modern fences for table saws.

Hi All, new here. I was wondering about the differences between the various aluminum extrusion fences like the 2424, 24/24, 24/12, XRC, Align-a-rip, etc.... I just picked up a XR2424, unexpectedly, and was wondering how it compares, and if I made a good choice. Is there a historical timeline or feature comparison? Anyone have links to online manuals for each/any of these? Thanks

Welcome to the forum! When you get a minute add your location to your profile so it will show in the side panel. Add your first name to your signature line so we'll know what to call you.

I don't know anything about the different fences but others probably will. Post a photo of your set up when you get a chance, photos always help.

The Craftsman XR 2424 is a good fence. I have one on my saw. If you need a manual, just let me know.

Would love a manual on the 2424. I attempted a PM but the system says I'm not senior enough.

I am sure there are some differences in the extrusion and the lock-up and the fence base plate style. What they all are I do not know and when changes were made I don't know that either. At one point I had 2 of them here. One from a Craftsman saw, an XR2424, and one from a Ridgid saw, a 24/12 if I remember correctly. Both worked just fine on the Craftsman saw. The Craftsman had the one piece 61 inch front rail. I believe that would be the most desirable. Not having a joint on the front rail has to be a plus in my view.

Good luck with your new fence.

The front rail that came with the 2424 is indeed one piece. The back rail is shorter, not sure why, other than the head is much wider than the far end.
