Chuck advice

Hello Er'body,
I am new here and after hanging out awhile I see you folks have a lot of combimed knowledge on tools and such.
I have a question concerning chucks...I want a chuck/accessories that hopefully can handle 1" at least 4" stock and possibly up to 6" and be user friendly without a lot of changeout time..what do you guys recommend? should I go with a geared chuck or? I currently have two delta 46-460 lathes. I run one primarily and keep another for backup. Thats kinda why I like to avoid a lot of set up time when possible..I currently use a simple wooden faceplate and ca glue for a lot of turnings combined with turning tape..but am looking to be more versatile and figure you guys could get me on the right path..can you reccomend a list of stuff I should get that would cover me? I tried out the oneway talon chuck and wasnt thrilled about it although it was made very well

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum WT,
For the chuck, depends on what you want to spend and what you plan on turning. For not too much money, the barracuda chuck in the Penn State Ind. catalog is a decent chuck, comes with four different sets of jaws, and is easy to use. Usually around $169.00. For a more expensive chuck, I like the vicmarks. I have a vicmark on my 16" jet with a set of dovetail jaws and am really happy with it. It uses a hex shaped T handle to tighten or loosen. No fumbling around trying to mesh teeth inside the chuck, etc. The vics are around $300.
