band saw fence suggestions.

I have ordered some parts and am on my way to a significant band saw upgrade. Unlike my smaller band saw my new one did not come with a fence. Since I don't have the space for a table saw a fence is a must. I have seen metal magswitch fences, but have also seen their price tag ($100+). Is it worth it or would I be just as well buying two magswitches and making a fence from wood. Or is there an even better option out there.

As far as the brand of my BS... I have no idea. Its missing all its decals and as far as I can tell its a central machinery or a grizzly from years ago, but I have yet to find my exact saw anywhere.

Read through Dominick's thread. I am not sure if he ever made a decision.

It would be best if you'll get two magswitches or make a wood fence for your band saw.

I'm not sure what a magswitch is, but I've made two fences for my bandsaw. One is to go on the small steel table when I need all the height I can get, the other is part of a bandsaw extension table that I made. The first has a neat little device that allows me to change the angle of the fence to the blade. The other slides in two T tracks, which allows me to set any angle I want, although now that I have adopted Mr. Snodgrass's method of installing the blade, it normally tracks straight.

For some reason, I don't have a pic of the second fence, but here's the first one.

Roger, here a few magswitches, I have a few in my shop. Very handy for jigs and stuff on cast iron tables.
