Question 1995 Powermatic Model 15

Hi Guys. Newb here. I recently bought a Powermatic 8 inch jointer and a Powermatic Model 15 thickness planer off the craigslist. Both were supposedly bought new in 1995 and never fired up. They had (have) a thick coat of rust on the exposed metal parts. The belts have definitely taken a set and cause substantial vibration when operating the machine and need to be changed. I found a direct replacement for the jointer at Auto Zone but can't find the planer belts.

My question is this for starters: The planer has a M-59 0L drive belt (three actually) and I can't find a direct replacement. The factory said look at an automotive parts store. They have 56 and 60 inch belts in 3/8" width. I called eparts and they want $30 each and no telling what they'll send as the female clerk didn't seem to have a clue.

Anyone else got a 1995 Model 15 that can tell me what belt they have on their machine?

Look for a bearing or motor shop in your Area and take your old belt there. They'll probably have one in stock, and likely be cheaper than online.

The tools don't make the craftsman....

Cant help you on where to find the stock replacement. But you might consider using a link belt as a replacement. I "had" one on my old table saw and it worked great. It will never "take a set" like the normal belts due. Here is a picture of what I am talking about. Also here is the web site ...........http://www.zoro.com/i/G3722311/?utm_...FQYFaQodzbkAfw
