A few shots of my workshop and some of my tools - especially my favorite. Can you guess which one?
One of the things I like about my tools is that many of them have great history. The Shopsmith Mark V was my great uncle's, the table saw, RAS, drill press, and shaper have been in the abbey shop since the 1950s. It really is a pleasure to continue to create with these great, solid machines. I'm still wondering whatever happened to the planer and jointer though.
I have made some modifications from the design I learned at Blue Cloud Abbey (Marvin, SD). Specifically, the metal handles have been exchanged for a wooden rail and the Latin cross that ran the length of the casket is now a small Benedictine cross on the head piece. There is also a riser that has been added inside to allow the torso to be raised during visitation.
