Hi, Steve. I see that you are a moderator on this forum. I would love to find some like minded wood workers in my neighborhood. Do you know if there is a way to find anybody who lives here in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Would it be O.K. to post the question?
"Looking for fellow wood workers in or around Regina, Saskatchewan?"

    Thanks, Steve,

    Thomas

Maybe i used the wrong terminology. I have an older house, built in the 1960s. The kitchen has vinyl tile that i am going to replace. Problem - underneath the tile is pine 3/4 inch (Real 3/4 inch.) plywood. and underneath that is 1x6 subflooring which is in good condition All i can find today is 23/32 which is noticeably different. I only need to replace 1/2 of the kitchen due to waterleakage and deterioration. Suggestions?

    Hey Steve,

I'm always curious when something happens to a member but usually don't ask. However, I had a notification of a post quote and when I clicked on it I saw it was Stefano Lombardo and all his posts have been deleted. What did he do? I did notice he came in 'hot' unlike most who sort of move slowly into posting and commenting.

    Just curious, is all...

    Thanks!
    David

I hope they re-formulate the Valspar tractor paint. The stuff is terrible.

Sherwin williams is going to acquire Valspar for 11.3 billion. Just thought I would pass this on.

It would be tough Steve. The pressboard goes edge to edge on the slate. It is used to attach the three pieces to the wood frame of the table and to staple the felt tightly. You know what happens to pressboard when it gets hammered into or stapled etc. Pieces break off and converts back to sawdust pieces. I would have to shave/saw off from the slate and glue new pieces on to the edge. These slates are close to 300 pounds each and are difficult to work on without damaging them. I came to the conclusion some sort of filler might be the best option. But I have never tried this on pressboard. It is an interesting situation isn't it? Like you, I have dealt with countless weird possibilities with wood, but this one is new to me since I try to never use pressboard under any circumstances. I appreciate your input. It was a good idea.

    Hi Steve,
I noticed while reading some other threads you know about cedar chests. I could use any help I could get. I know very little about wood work. I have sanded and polyurethaned a dining room table and made some pallet wood projects but this is much bigger and means much more so I don't want to mess it up.
I have an old Lane cedar chest that my father bought my mother as a wedding gift. The veneer was tearing off and the outside was very damaged. My Dad started to refinish it before he died and now I would love to finish the job. He had sanded most of the veneer off and I guess was going to seal it. I would like to know what is the best way to clean it up while trying to get the cedar smell back. I have no idea if staining the outside will ruin the cedar smell inside. What is the best way to preserve the outside now the veneer has been taken off ? This piece is very dear to me and just want to do it the correct way.
    Thank you for any advise.
