    Hi Scott,
I am looking to get started with hand planes. Upon browsing the forum, seems like you are the resident plane-guru.Hoping you could guide me in the right direction. Here's what I am looking to do: I am a hobbyist. Spend about 5-10 hrs a week in my shop. While I have mostly power tools; I dont have a planer. I have been using the jointer for the time being to make do. But Its frustrating and a lot of work and dust! And I still dont get squareness sometimes!
Anyway, I wonder if had any suggestions or recommendations in thsi regard. I was hoping to start with a very basic Plane complement, but there are so many options out there (some very expensive), that it can get overwhelming. I am mostly self taught and hopefully in the near future I can make some of the workshops in RWS, but till then I need to wade through this as best as I can.OK I have been rambling on for a while. My budget- under $250 to start with and slowly add planes/sharpening systems etc over time.
    Regards
    Kaul.
