I just wanted to say thanks for showing me those Frame clamps that you used when you make frames. I purchase a couple sets, and am using them for the first time on some small boxes, and they are a dream to work with. I can't believe that I didn't have them before.
Thanks for the comments. I agreed with Taylor and you that I should have used those types of hinges on the boxes. I actually ordered some 90° stop hinges from a local supplier and when the came in wrong I rushed into what I did use foolishly just to get them on the site. Mistake! Anyway, thanks for the postitive and helpful comments, They were truly appreciated.
Kenbo,
I am in the market for a scroll saw, (with that being said) Do you have any suggestions as to what I might watch for. (variable speed or not, stroke, any brands to stay away from, with or without a base) Just anything that may help.
Kenbo,
I came across a thread on dust collection that Joetab24 started. He references your set up but I can't find what he is referencing? Is there a thread or posting that you could point me too? This is exactly what I have been looking for and I would appreciate any advice you might have......Rob
Hey man I really like a lot of the cutting boards that you made. I'm lucky enough to have a guy near me who sells lumber from downed trees in our county for really cheap. I was wondering if you thought I could build something like your cutting boards but use it as a butcher block for a counter top?
Ken I didn't want to mess up your thread on the machinist's chest, but maybe at the end you could make a photo list of the shop tools, TS, BS, the small L squares, special clamps that self squaring gizmo, miter gauge etc. that you used in the build. Others have commented on your nice tools and they are for sure. It would be helpful as part of the "alternate methods" to know what tools were used. I'm surprised that it wasn't a "requirement" of the project in a way to describe the tools as well as the method...Yah, I know more photos. Hah hah bill
Thanks for clock material update Ken I'm still trying to source 1/4 inch solid for my new Clock project I may have found 1/4 solid cherry at www.heritagewood.com But it ain't cheap something like 37.00 for 12 x 20" sheet. As for the Clock In my new project its not a Clock insert it will be a clock movement mech so hole will only be 3/8 or so.
Happy scrolling Glenn
Well then I'm glad I could contribute to a Vet like you. I too am self taught and I found the site by accident while researching scrolling before I bought my first saw I Subscribed to his site and get almost daily mail from him now with free patterns, scrolling tips and product reviews. Like I said I have found the site invaluable while honing what skills I have. You will find he has hundreds of downloadable patterns and videos his library is growing by the day. so every couple of months I pay pal him 10 or 20 bucks in appreciation
Glad you found the link Ken I'm surprised you didn't already have it I thought i saw some of Johns Pattern in your pics, But if not I'm sure you'll enjoy his site
