Hi Howard,
I saw your review for the Craftsman 6"x48" table top belt sander/disc combo.
I am looking for a belt sander of those dimensions, and for a budget of less than $200.
What I wonder is, how powerful is the motor? I do some heavy duty work on belt sanders, shaping some REALLY hard exotic woods and dense bone. Any of the regular "off the shelf" belt/disc sanders I've had over the years (the 4"x36" variety) have all had motors of around 1/2hp and they all tend to stall with even moderate pressure against the belt.
I'm looking for something with the muscle to move the belt against firm to strong pressure, so that I can get through some bulk sanding quicker.
can this machine do it? The only other one I see on the market for that kind of price is the Central Machinary model, but I'm familiar with their cheap reputation so am leery of buying one from that brand.
