Mark,
I'm still perfecting the inlay process, but The tow I've posted are serviceable. I have a little more walnut, and several unfinished blanks that I intend to use for inlay, so give me a week or so and your girlfriend can have her pick for $25. I'm honored that a novice such as i am has made something that pleases the eye of a pro!
Most of the maple is great, it's just the funky one doesn't have the strength.
I will pm you when I have a couple more forks to chose from! And thank you, again, your generosity is really appreciated!
Hi Diane,
I saw your post about grain raising and posted my query, then saw your post of finished pieces. I checked out your hair forks and they are gorgeous. If I used them, I would get one for myself. However, I'm strictly a hair tie or braid kind of guy. My girlfriend, however, also thought they are gorgeous, and I would like to know what you charge for one of your walnut forks, with the turquoise inlay. Yeah, I could make one, but I'm really busy and besides, you do a really beautiful job on them, already!
It's good to know what you like in the wood. Sorry that maple didn't work out, strength-wise. Too bad, as it's amazing when polished. Please let me know on the pricing. I don't do the obligatory gift giving on government mandated holi- days, but I occasionally get inspired to buy a gift for someone. Your pics inspire me.
Hey Mark,
I just found this note...yes, I've been playing. I'm totally in love with the walnut. It's yummy. The maple handles nicely, and I was able to use that burl wood successfully once, but in the sizes I use it has no strength whatsoever. Will post some pics at some point.
Oh, and the Mistress of the Uterus--a play on She-ra, Mistress of the Universe from the He-man cartoon. I guess it's just about being able to do whatever I set my mind to, like making things with power tools! I'm a massage therapist by trade.
Hi Diane, thanks for the check. Have you had a chance to play with any of that wood yet? By the way, I see your 'mistress of the uterus' line here. Are you a mid-wife?(or nurse mid-wife?) Or an OB?
