I just read about a BIM company called Trimble that is purchasing Google's SketchUp. They say they are keeping the free option, but adding some of their features to it, and want to compete with AutoCAD.
Does anyone use SketchUp? If so, what do you think about it being acquired by Trimble?
Sketchup has sort of just been sitting stagnant for a while in Google's hands. my guess is they've been looking to make a move on Sketchup for a while now so they can focus on other things. I think with Trimble at the helm they will really focus on making improvements. They are an incredible company with a ton of experience. I've been learning a lot about them over the past few days at the unofficial Trimble Sketchup blog
I just D/L it last night, might be a good project to learn it when it is to cold in the garage.
Hope the government doesn't get involved with it! if it becomes too popular then things will change not for the best as previously statted.
