Default Storage cubby for jr wrestlers

Anyone have advice or a design for a storage cubby for rec. wrestling team? I have an 8' w x 6' h x 16"d space to fill with as many cubbies as I can. The boys need to be able to store streeet shoes, sweats etc. I also need to design and build a 1st-3rd awards podium. I was thinking about something that nests. Any thoughts?

I do not think that you really mean that. The dimensions of the individual cubbies should be matched to what is going to be placed in them. Do not just start building without knowing just how much volume each cubby must hold.

Nesting the podiums is a good solution. They are just boxes to build.

Thanks George, as I stated above the cubbies will hold streets shoes and sweats so my estimate in size per cubbie is about 12 x 12. Any thoughts on a design? Also do you know of a way that the podiums could attach together when apart yet still nest?

I built a set of cubbies for a friend that opened a pre-school. It was a last minute thing because she was looking for something she could buy, and didn't find anything she liked. I built them out of MDF. They were 8'L x 4'H x 2'D. The cubbies them selves were just under 12" x 12". All I did was cut all the pieces to length and layed out the dados to put them together. Since I used MDF I made the dados shallow because MDF is a little flimsy with all the dados I had to cut. All I used to secure the pieces was glue and brads. She was very happy with them and they have held up great. That was three years ago that I built them. I wish I had a picture but I never took one.
