Default rifle cabinet

i'm starting a rifle cabinet for a customer. i was wondering if anyone had any plans or measurements for the butt & barrel rests, ie. height, depth, spacing, etc.? any helpfull direction would be appreciated.

Ec,
you should probably check with the customer to see what guns he has that he wants to put in the cabinet when you are done with it. You could also stop at a store where they sell them and get some ideas there.

Default I ain't tellin' no one what guns I have

But if it were me making this cabinet, I would make it flexible in terms of the barrel holders and their heights. Guns sometimes come and go depending on the whims and needs of the owner. My gun vault uses velcro and carpet covered barrel holders, and obviously a shot gun with 28" or 30" barrel and an AR-15 with a 18" barrel will require a completely different arrangement. Other suggestions would be to conceal the hinge and use laminated glass to slow down potential thieves, children, and other unauthorized access. A fireproof material would be appreciated in the event of a fire. Just some of my thoughts, bill

thanks for the ideas guys. the cust. wants no glass. it will look like any other cabinet when completed except for the locks. i'm going to go to a store & check there. thanks again eric

That makes more sense Ec. I don't know anyone anymore that displays their guns.
