Default marquetry

Does anyone use marquetry on their furniture. I was wondering if anyone has some ideas about attaching my pattern to the veneer and using it to help stabilize the burl veneer I want to use. Somthing I can remove? I bought a can of Stick It to experiment with, but if I don't have to reinvent the wheel more the better.

I don't think I've ever used the pattern to "stabilize" the veneer. Some burls are curly and if they are you need to use a veneer softener.

If the veneer is bumpy or wavy, you can't transfer clean lines. In some cases I've used rubber cement to hold the pattern from moving, and it comes off without leaving residue. I've also used carbon paper, and a 5mm pencil, with the pattern just taped down.
