Default How to attatch paper to wood

I am new to forum and woodworking. I am planning a present for my father's pool room. He has a 100 year old snooker pool table that was his fathers and basically built a room around it. I have the original pegs that you would keep score with(little round pieces that would hang on wire above table)that you would slide from one end to other to keep score. I want to mount these again and want to have words or a saying"nanna and papps pool room. This text will be on paper how would I mount this on the wood. Its hard to explain how can I make it clear

Go to Michael's or Hobby Lobby whichever you have and ask for Mod Podge. Google the word decoupage and it will explain everything.

Take care

I would think you could use vinyl letters. Go to a sign shop to have this done. Just takes a few seconds for a computer controled razor to cut the letters out in any size, color, and font you want. It,s kind of cheap too.

I think this what you are trying to do. Here is a link with some examples. www.wallwords.com

Personally, I mount paper to wood all the time. I use a spray adhesvie. I spray on a generous (not soaking) coat and allow it to dry for 3 minutes. This gives it time to tack up. From there, you just rub it down to the wood. If, for some reason, you need to remove it, I use a heat gun (a hair dryer works as well, just slower) to heat the paper and soften the glue. Elmer's makes a spray adhesive and it is available at Home Depot for about $6.00 (Canadian)
Hope this helps

How well I remember the "scoring wire" from my youth. We did not have snooker but the little dough nuts on the wire were the way we kept score in straight pool.

Nice, Believe it or not I have the original scoring pegs. We are estimating at least 75 years old. This snooker table has been completly refinished with a black felt top.

Default Try t-shirt iron on transfer paper

I know you found your answer, but if others are still looking for ideas I have had luck using t-shirt iron on transfer paper to get pictures and patterns transferred to wood.

I have used Mod Podge and depending on the paper, if I recall correctly, the glue may soak into and darken the paper. I would test it first. But maybe it was the glue I used to attached the paper to the wood, not the mod podge I used to cover the paper. I don't remember exactly. In my case, I was gluing a newspaper clipping to wood (a hole-in-one by my 9 year old at the time). Stiffer paper might fair better.

This is not the best picture but all of the background behind the dials on this play stove I built are attached with mod-podge and it worked very well. It has stood up to some hard playing for over a year now.
