Working on a smaller wooden cross
I want to do a 1:2 ratio - such as here
Need it to be 3 inches wide and 4 3/8 long
Where is the center of the horizontal board on the tall board?

Hi Jay
For a 1:2 cross you need seven units of measurement high and five of the same units across. You will need to adjust one of your lengths just a little for a true 1:2. By using your diamentions of 4 3/8" high, I divided 4.375 by 7 to find the size of each unit = .625 or 5/8". The short board is 5 units or .625 x 5 = 3.125 or 3 1/8. To find the center hight of the short board you take the 4 whole units below the short board plus half of the unit under it. Your units are .625 x 4.5 = 2.8125 or 2 13/16 up from the bottom of the long board is your center.

hope this helps

Paul
