Default Built in project construction approach

First time poster, long time lurker.

Was not sure if this question better fit in the Design section, or Built in Section, but I will try design.

I am planning a set of built in shelves/entertainment center for a basement wall. I will be using oak plywood for the carcasses, and oak for the doors and face frame. The rough size is 22’ long, and floor to ceiling @ roughly 7 ½’ tall. From left to right, there will be a 3’ section of shelves, a 6’ section to house the TV/stereo components, a 6’ section to house a 150 gal aquarium, then a pair of 3’ shelf sections (all 3 of the shelf sections to be basically identical). The bottom 30-32” section will be a continuous row of cabinets, with doors for every 18” section(minus face frames).

The question is how best to chunk this down? My initial thoughts were to build the individual vertical sections, then assemble them side by side. Then I thought perhaps it would be better to build the lowers separately, and add the tops as separate pieces.

Any experiences with either approach, pro or con? Is there another approach worth considering?

Are you building it in the basement or somewhere else?
I would probably build the bases in place and install base faces in about 3 sections. Then build upper 3' and 6' sections separately.

Thanks for the feedback, I had been planning to build in my garage, then move to the basement. Building the lowers in place may be a better way. Certainly it will provide a convenient pseudo finished look half way through.

I am considering this. Thanks.
