Default Dark Stains

Tom,

The results were must better this time however, the shade I'm trying to achieve isn't right. I need a darker stain. The color I have now is Minwax Dark Walnut 2716, http://www.stubborn-norwegian.com/im...wax_colors.gif. I want to achieve their Ebony 2718 color.

Before I go out and buy the Ebony color, can you offer some suggestions on how to achieve this dark black/brown color with pine? I'm willing to use another product if necessary.

Thanks

It maybe best to go with the Ebony stain. Applying more dark walnut is propably not gonna get much darker. Prep the same way.

You can make your own sealer the way they used to do it, 1 part shellac to 7 parts alcohol. For pine, you might want to go with 5 parts alcohol.
