Default New Member and Curly Maple

Hi all. I'm new to this site and pretty new to woodworking also. I'm making a chest/coffee table of out curly maple and wanted some ideas to really make the figure stand out. Any ideas? Thanks!

Are you wanting "natural" color ? Or make the grain pop with dyes ? I prefer natural and will tell you how I do it. Sand to 400 (you are finishing the wood, not finishing the "finish", some will argue this point...let them) and use a simple oil and wax. I use pure tung oil and a paste wax. Example:

Default curley maple

there are several ways to do this, I like to use boiled linseed oil and turpentine mixe equal parts and heated . flood it on and reapply areas that asorb quicker, then wipe off after a few minutes. wait 24 hours then finish with your choice of dye and or finish. I like aniline dyes if you want to change shades.
